Carmelo is currently serving as General Counsel, Secretary of the Board and Head of Sustainability at Banca Generali, one of the largest listed private banks in Italy, where he is also part of the management committee. Before this experience, he occupied several managerial positions within the Generali Group including Group General Counsel and member of the global management committee of the Europ Assistance in Paris.

He gained strong international experience advising in major M&A, strategic transactions and transformation projects in Asia, EU, US, and Africa. He has a dual admission to the Italian and New York bar, and he serves as non-executive director in several companies. Before joining the Generali Group in 2013, Carmelo worked as legal counsel in primary law firms in Washington DC, New York, Milan, and London.

Carmelo is actively supporting unaccompanied minor migrants arriving from Africa in the costs of Sicily – his region of origin in Italy. He is also on the advisory board of a prominent Italian NGO, WeWorld.
